"When motor is running in neutral the drive shaft connecting the engine to the out drive does not move. Is the problem in outdrive or the engine? Outdrive is an Alpha One, engine is 4.3 1989"
 
The engine coupler is shot; it

The engine coupler is shot; it's what transfers engine power to the drive shaft. The engine has to be pulled.
