"looking in my just received service manual I see referce to the fly wheel 15/16 elastic nut,I looked at this nut and I don't look to be elastic to me. Whats up with this. Thanks"

"I'm talking about a 1956 Mark 30E and the service manual, the book has a referce to the fly wheel elastic nut,my question is what is ment by [elastic}? also is the fly wheel nut right or left hand thread. i'm just getting started on this motor and will be posting more questions and hoping I'm not taking advantage of your generosity"

After thinking about this I think they must just be taking about what I call a lock nut. I would still like to know if it has left or right hand thread.

"It's a lock nut that uses an elastomer, ut it's not 15/16--that's just the wrench size. It's a 5/8 fine thread, I believe.
