What would the maximum pitch I

What would the maximum pitch I could go to on a 40hp Johnson pushing a 4.0m quintrex Hornrt. At present I have a 11 3/4 x 17p.
Could I increase this

Paul you should have a tacho on the boat to run the right prop your rev range by memory is 4500 to 5500rpm stick between 5000 and 5500rpm your boat might not handle a bigger pitched prop

"Jamie,Thanks for the info, I've taken the boat to have a service done on the outboard, I'll clue them in on the revs, it doesn't sound or feel as though its doing the 5000rpm"
