"Hiall.I have a Volvo penta md 2020 diesel engine with a instrument panel ignition switch and when i turn the key to position 1 the temperture light is bright and the oil and batt lights are dim,when i turn the key to position 2 the glow light does not come on but i do get a small screechy sound from the engine.I think it is the starter motor!, i cleaned all the terminals that i could find and the batt's that is attached to the engine reads 11. and the other is about 4. i should add that this is a newish engine with only 90 hours on the tachometer but hasent been used for just over a year. can someone help with this prob thank,s orison"

Your batteries are dead. The one that reads 11 may charge up but the one with 4 volts is most likely damaged.

thanks for getting back to me - I thought it was the batteries but thought it was worth checking just in case there was some other explanation. I will get a couple of new batt and let you know if it solves the problem.
