99 2 cycle stalling out

"1986 9.9 mariner, starts no problem , seems to have rough idle, will stall out when put in gear and throttle forward. Will restart after several tries. Can prevent stalling by using manual choke. Any suggestions ??

"Since you can make it run by choking it that tells you that it is not getting enough fuel.

Your problem could lie anywhere between the tank and the carb.

Make sure the vent on your tank is open and not blocked. Check the fuel pickup in the tank for crud. Use fresh gas (no more than 2 weeks old). Check the gas hose from the tank fitting to the motor fitting for kinks, cracks, air leaks, bad fittings etc.

Check any fuel filters to make sure they are clean and not blocked.

If all looks well then it's time to pull, disassemble and clean the carb...."
