Just noticed the alternator is

Just noticed the alternator is hot to touch. Warmer than exhaust riser. This is the first time I ever felt around while running. Is this normal?
2000 4.3 Merc. 65A Mando Alt.
 
Your battery may have one or m

Your battery may have one or more nearly dead cells which keeps the alt. working overtime. Have it tested at an auto parts shop.

The boat has 2 batterys/Guest switch. It acts the same on 1, both,and 2 positions. #1 batt is new. #2 is 2 years old.Had the alt checked and it's fine???
