"I have a 2005 115 HP Yamaha 4

"I have a 2005 115 HP Yamaha 4 stroke that starts and idles well and after a good warm-up as I head out, runs great until I hit 2400 RPM where it begins to sputter (or miss?) badly. It runs very well above 3000 RPM again to WOT to get on plane, where I throttle back to 4200 RPM where it is still running fine. But it really runs poorly in the 2400 - 3000 RPM range. Fuel has been checked, filters checked, squeezing the primer bulb doesn't help at all either, gets regular oil and filter changes. Spark plugs have all been changed, flushed regularly and only has 351 hours on it total time. I am in a rural coastal community in Alaska and could really use an answer to this one as it is very costly to get to a service center and I do have to rely on this motor for transportation."

"I have a similar problem but

"I have a similar problem but occurs at 2000 RPM. Has become progressively worse and now wont run above 2000RPM. I bought a workshop manual on a CD from ebay for a few bucks and it is very useful. After testing the output of a few parts- following the instructions in the manual, i think it is is my lighting coil/stator. The stator generates the current to supply the CDI (capacator discharge ignition)which in turn sends a signal to the coils to produce a spark. My engine is a F100 but i imagine they are similar. I hope this helps!
Dave"
