Buying a boat w a Yamaha VMAX

Buying a boat w a Yamaha VMAX 225 from 2001. How to know condition? What to look for? How long can I expect it to last? Has apparently been properly serviced (whatever that means....). Grateful for all tips!

"what was boat used for?, fresh or salt water, compression test on each cylinder?, have you test run the motor in the river/lake?, about how many hours on motor?,any maintenance/repair history? better get it checked out by a Yamaha technician before you buy it. then if you're lucky, and you take good care of it, then it may run for many more years.
