"Hi Guys,I have this smokey problem coming from a slot about 45x12mm at the top of the leg , just below where the power head bolts on ( 6 bolts ); never seen it b4, but obviously never looked.
I'm ashamed to admit, the boat has been in dry storage interstate , for nearly 2 years; and was supposed to have the engine started by my "mate" ; but after the battery died, it didn't happen! Hope you can assist with diagnosis , and a likely cost to have it fixed , so I can once again enjoy it. Thanks for a great site."

First question - is it "smoke" or "steam" - smoke, not a huge deal especially if it's been sitting - could be simply burning out cooties.

Steam, not good - could indicate an overheat.

Did you change the impeller recently? if not, it's overdue - after sitting in storage for any length of time, the waterpump should be serviced before the motor is started. The impeller can dry rot, or crack from "not being in the water"."
