I have 92 Sundancer 290 with around 500 hours. The boat Will remain on plane at around 3200 rpm but just barely and runs about 19 mph. If I run it up to 3400 rpm it seems to lift more and will run about 25 rpm. Is 3400 a reasonable cruising rpm for this boat or am i creating problems for myself down the line. I usually will try to fluxuate a bit as to not keep the engine running at the same spped for extended periods and will occasionally run it at about 3500. Thoughts?

The WOT for that engine is 420

The WOT for that engine is 4200-4600 RPMs. IMHO even 3500 RPMs is not too much for cruising; you are fine. Varying the RPMs is a good on a new engine bit not so necessary on one w/500 hours; it's broken in already. What prop pitch? 3 or 4 blade?
