I have an early 70's OMC 1

I have an early 70's OMC 165 Chev straight 6.
Changed oil in spring- had a couple qts of water come out first. Now the oil is very milky after running about 30 minutes.
Pulled all hoses in the fall water drained. Petcock on manifold did not seem to drain well. can water
get in oil thru the manifold.
what is best guess??

Pressure test cooling system - listen for where the air is hissing.

Thanks for the tip. To pressure test I assume
fab a airhose adapter for the water in line from
the outdrive water pump where it comes in at the
thermostat?

"Yep! Block off the water line

"Yep! Block off the water line to the manifold (clamp a 5/8" bolt in it) and regulate about 10 psi max.
Or just use a bicycle tire pump to 10 psi.
If you don't hear hissing, it's the manifold.
But I suspect the block.

Glad you asked before tearing the engine apart - so many people do that and then they have to reassemble to pressure test."
