"I have a 1983 35hp Evinrude that runs rough at slow speed when in gear I give about 1/3 throttle and it runs smooth. When I try to adjust the ss mixture screw (1 1/2 turns out from seat) it runs at a high rpm so I turn the mixture screw in (1/8 turn at a time) so the engine will just run, and when I back the ss screw out (1/8 turn at a time) until the engine comes to a good idle. When I put in gear and give it more gas the engine will die. Then I have to back the ss screw out and as I do this the rpm's come up pretty high, I back the ss screw out until the rpm's come back down to a good idle and it runs rough at slow speed and smooth at mid to high speed. There is not an idle adjustment screw on this carb. What am I doing wrong?"
