1997 Force 120 Power Trim Up but not Down

"I have a 1997 Force 120 with power trim that will raise the motor up but will not lower it down. It is connected to a Quicksilver 3000 series control box, and there is no cowl switch. Not sure where to start to diagnose the problem, any helpful suggestions are much appreciated."

"There are two different solenoids on the trim - one for up, and one for down.

Check all the wire connections to make sure they are good.

You can also swap the wires between the two solenoids - then if the motor will lower but not raise, the solenoid is bad - if it still won't go down then you either have a bad trim motor or a switch problem.

Spend the 35 bucks for a Seloc's manual and troubleshoot - powertrim is an expensive component and if you can do the work yourself you will save a bundle..."

"Looking at the engine on the rifgt there are two solenoids, black in color, for the power trim. One for up and one for down, I believe the green wired one is up and the blue wired one is down. These solenoids are cheap in price"
