I am helping a friend rewire a twin engine Layman w/flybridge. what is the reason for the the extra selenoid? (next to starter)

"It reduces the current drain

"It reduces the current drain from the starter/ignition switch. It's a bit more important in a boat, due to the longer wire runs."
