"I have a bent exhaust valve on a new 4.3 GM engine, it has 30 hours.
The riser gasket leaked and the engine ingested water. I took the head to have the valve replaced and they said the lifter could have pumped up and caused the valve to be in the way when the piston came up.

Has anyone heard of this issue with the 4.3 vortex?
I am amazed that the lifters would be that sensitive to any contaminate.

They said the lifters are poor quality and suggested I replace all 12."

Ayuh,... That Right There is what caused your bent valve,..
Rust...
Those guys are trying to sell you more than you need....
A Bill of Goods so to speak...
There's only 2 places that actually make Chevy Lifters,...
A place here in the US that Chevy uses,+ someplace in China...."

"A new 4.3 with only 30 hours. That should have warranty written all over it. Doesn't sound like something you did, sounds like improper torqueing when the engine was manufactured. Where'd you purchase the engine (or boat)?"
