i have a distributor apears the screw that holds down the condensor is stripped.could this cause loss of spark.
 
I think it can cause problems

I think it can cause problems related to poor grounding. It should be an easy fix.

another suggestion is to replace the points and condenser with an electronic solid state ignition. Pertronix makes part#2842 for your distributor and will eliminate the need to keep adjusting the points every couple of months.Electronic ignitions are about the cheapest upgrade to your boat and makes a world of difference ex:starts and idles 100% better, timing doesn't float and you never have to adjust it.set it and forget it!!!works great on my aq125"
