"We put boat in for season, idled fine for 10 minutes and stopped. Turn the key and just get a clank. Volts are up, no water behind plugs, oil level fine, }acts like it is seized up. Any ideas?"

"See if you can turn it backwa

"See if you can turn it backward with a wrench. You may have anything from a broken rod or a bad drive plate or u-joints came apart. If you can get it to turn over, you may be able to trouble shoot it better.

Pull the ignition wire from the coil-(you don't want it to fire) and spin with wrench the correct direction. If that works, try the starter. Listen and look for anysign the unit has a problem.

Don't leave out the lower and upper gear cases. Check their oil for water or metal.

The U-joint boot is easy to get a peek inside.

Lay out all your spark plugs and see if one stands out.
