"I have a 1993 2003T, and like you, I searched hi and lo for the anode shown in the manual. At a boat show a Volvo rep. told me it was "no longer necessary" as all the metals are the same. Afew years later the cap developed perforations spewing salt water all over my alternator. I was able to get the cap braised over, and was told it is copper.Since then I always flush out the raw water side with fresh water after a trip and its been ok, altho Idecided to have it braised over again recently as I had it off the engine"
