"Im getting ready to paint the bottom of my boat and i noticed that the bottom part of the hull is getting rubbed down pretty good. I was wondering if i could put some new fiberglass strips and resin over that area to get that built back up again before i paint the bottom of the boat? Im sure i can, i was just looking for some insite before i start doing it "my way". Any info on what to do or what not to do would be good or even a link to another site that would get me going in the right direction. Thanks."

If it just the gel-coat that is wearing thin then you don't need to fiberglass the hull. You would be looking to build up the top finish layer. An epoxy finish may be the way to go. You won't have to be super fussy if your just going to bottom paint over it.
