My 440 has no Marine Plate..
the serial number on its casting is automotive
3698830-440-8 any other way to tell that is
simple ??

Check the freeze plugs with a

Check the freeze plugs with a magnet. Marine motors usually have brass freeze plugs.

"Most of the parts were car and truck, nothing marine except cooling, dist and carb. Google those part numbers and you find the heads came off a Road Runner or similar and the block was from a motorhome. A reverse rotation engine had a special crank, cam and dist drive gear.
