"hi, i bought a pair of decent

"hi, i bought a pair of decent 454 xli's and am about to swap them out with my old 440's in my post 43'. comp. checked good on both engines excpet on a couple of cyl's. i spryed some fog oil in those cyl's and it came rite up to where the rest were. the engines have sat for quite a while. culd this just have been a stuck valve, that may have freed itself with the oil?? also, before i take on this project are there any words of wisdom from you experts out there???

"If you are talking about compression values going up with oil in the cylinder...I was taught that is a sign of rings not sealing well.

Depending upon how long "quite a while" was and where, you may want to checking things out a bit more thoroughly before starting the swap"

"The rings could have been stuck, but thst oil test result usually means bad rings.

I'd floor run both of them for a while, then try the comp test again, before installing them if I was you.
