06 yamaha 225 four stroke water pump impeller shattered

Has anyone had problems with w

Has anyone had problems with water pump impeller being chewed up?When removed the plastic pump housing was melted on one side.Ordered kit and the new metal cover that fits over housing is different.Motor has less than 20hrs on it.Has never been run without being in water.

"You have picked up some weed or a plastic bag while running which has caused the damage to the impeller and housing, change the pump ass and it will be fine"
 
The 05 and 06 have a different

The 05 and 06 have a different water pump kits.The 06 water pump impeller housing plate is twice as big as the 05.It's intake hole lets in twice as much water into the impeller housing.I wonder if Yamaha 225 have had a factory water pump upgrade.Has anybody else had problems with 05 water pumps?
