"there r 2 ways,...hard way,and easier,way....u did'nt say what eng,...however,..grease lightly,imp plate,and inside of housing,slide imp down on shaft,keying it ,...slide hsng over,if this is a v4-v6--make sure oring gasket,is glued in place well,and grease that o ring gasket,while,turning shaft,CLOCKWISE,force hsng over imp,sealant on bolts....inst./test run."

"The method I've always used is to have the housing in my left hand, then insert the impeller into it in a counter clockwise direction, making sure that a mental note is taken of the impeller keyway location. Now, after applying sealer to the bottom of the housing seal, it can simply be slid down the driveshaft and onto the key. (Works for me).
