hello i was wondering what my spark plugs should be gapped to for a 1974 70hp johnson model 70esl74m thanks

thanks and is that the stock gap or not cause the plugsthat were in the motor before i replaced them and there just stock gapped

"Yep, the present recommended

"Yep, the present recommended gap is .030 BUT for many years it was .040 . If the .030 gap results in poor performance, try the .040 setting.

"yep,..i'm not too sure about thier 'standardizing' of all the plug gaps...i was gapping them at 40 right there w/you...but,i chg when they chg...i have not seen any probs..my 81 140,used to eat,..plugs at 40...but that was back when i was skiing 2-3 days a week,and on weekends,...it never had a chance to cool off!"
