engine sputters at idle and wo

engine sputters at idle and won't go over 1800 rpm. I cleaned the fuel filter. I understand it was given a tune up about a year ago. The gas is about a year old with fuel additive in it. could it be the gas or Could it be the carburetors and can I spray some carb cleaner in the carbs. what else could be the problem

"If you are using the blended fuel it wont keep 12 months even with fuel additive, the fuel will still seperate. The ethanol will sink to the bottom of the fuel after 3 months and the remaining fuel loses its octane rating. It sounds like you will have to clean the carbies and do a decarb.

Check the spark and do a compression test while you're at it"
