"so i have an 89 bayliner with a chrysler/force inboard/outboard motor. well first off i know nothing about boats, so i need to find out just what this motor is so im able to get parts, it needs a starter. but the funny thing to me is that this inboard motor is not laying flat like in a car but its standing up so this has really thrown me off. pls help

You might have a 'L' d

You might have a 'L' drive. It was only produces a year or two and I've never seen one and could never even find a pic of one but I think it's a outboard power head hooked up to a stern drive if that helps.

Came in 90, 120 and 125 horse models.

It's a kinda hybrid - somewhat normal powerhead the same as an outboard with a I/O style drive.

OMC had a similar product called a Sea Drive.

Neither really gained much popularity."
