Default Suzuki DT 40 (86) Powe

Suzuki DT 40 (86) Power trim bleeds down when I raise it. It goes up fine and worked before I bought the boat. Now I raise it and it slowly goes back down over 1-2 minutes. Is there something easy I can check? I'm waiting on the repair manual I ordered.

I do not have my manual in front of me but it would be safe to say that the trim/tilt fluid is leaking by the seals internaly and the unit would need to be taken off and rebuilt. Is there any fluid leaking out? I had an issue with my DF 50 (2004) where I had fluid leaking out of the main seal. I still had warranty so I let the dealership fix it although the dealer said it was not a hard problem to replace the seal or remove the unit in general.

So you are saying it sounds like the seal inside of the piston is leaking? I haven't seen any fluid leaking out.
