"I have an 1981 Searay. 5.7L chevy. I/O Mercruiser. My Power Steering gear blew. I wanted to upgrade to a DHB? An Alpha Drive P/S steering? OK, anyway I did, I changed the transom plate, Everything fit perfect until I lined up the exhaust.It lines up right in the middle of the steering gear. I need an opinion.....I have Marine Wet Exhaust- good to 250degrees. Thinking of cutting the one side about 8" above where it mounts, put the Marine Wet Exhaust to the elbow. Will the temp excede 250 degrees?"

"To change the transom plate you had to pull the engine, changing the actuator to a late style has no affect on the exaust.

"I pulled the engine, I replaced the transom plate and i have a new bellhousing too. Here is a picture. i took the r/side exhaust tube apart after bolting it up. I do not know if you can see what i am talking about
