"2005 Volvo penta 5.0GXi MEFI-4. Cracked block last winter. Got new long block and did the home install swap. All went pretty easy. Engine out/in, swapped all the parts. I set the rotor to strike 1 at the same point the harmonic balance hit the tic. Hooked everything up like before. Engine cranked and idled long enough to heat up. Good oil pressure. I don't have a code reader so I just strapped the A-B to set the engine into maint. mode. Had no luck setting the timing. Boat will not stay at same RPM in maint. mode. Restarted boat and it idles OK, put it in gear and it revs like crazy and had to hit the key to kill it. I think it has set off some killer code now. What am I missing, forgetting? Will this thing not work without a computer setup? Is the MEFIburn worth the price?"
