"Hi everyone,
I am new to this, got to start somewhere. I am in the process of bying a 9.9. I will carry it around in the car trunk on it's side with the inflatable in the bag. Is a four stroke gone leak oil all over? I asked the dealer and I got a dealer's answer (that I could hang it upside down for six months and it would still start on the first pull.)
So, does a four stroke motor need to be hang up at all times?"

The 9.9's can layt on the tiller side of the engine or on the rear most part of the cowling with the prop facing downward or vertical (obviuously) The powerhead should always be slanted higher than the leg to keep any residule water in the leg from entering the powerhead. Oil will also flood the engine and leak out if you store it the wrong way. In other words your dealer is full of sh-t. I would lay it on the tiller handle side and have something soft under the powerhead to keep it higher than the leg.
