"I have merc 165hp the stator is bad how hard is it to change,what is the AC VOLTAGE that comes out of it suppose to read,center bolt is it reverse thread"

ralph i always determine the way the bolt tightens by wich way the motor turns when its running so wichever way it turns when running the the oposite for losening and im pretty sure you should read somewhere in the 14s when the rectifier is open
 
Install a standard single wire

Install a standard single wire 65 amp marine alternator kit; cheaper than all future repairs.

"Thanks what i forgot to mention is i have an engine that my buddy gave me and i"ve een taking parts off that engine as they go bad, so i was wondering how to take off the stator and it if anyone knew what the voltage coming out of it,what it should read.putting the conver kit is my 2nd option.
