"hi, while working on my engine (merc. 898 - 260.) the power steering cooler end broke right off. or popped off i should say. anyway, it was old as the hills. my question is, is it really necesary? i have a rack and pinion type steering helm. it steers really easy, and i just can't imagine the power steering fluid getting so hot it needs a cooler. what's the worst that could happen if i were to just bypass it?"
