I recently was out cruising th

I recently was out cruising the intercoastal and any speed above 10 mph the engine started racing. I drained the lube in the foot and it did not appear to have water intrusion but did smell burnt. What do I need to do next?

"For the lower unit it just 90W gear oil. You can use a "marine" brand, or any brand that is GL-5 rated (just check the little print on the back that we never read).

If you want to get fancy (read spend more money) you can go with a varied weight sythetic or an OEM brand. But if you change it once a year as you should, even the Walmart brand is more than sufficient."
