"I'm a new poster, so I hope I do this right. I have a 1973 Johnson 25hp (mod # 25R73) that is a tiller-handle model. I would like to convert it to a control-cable style so that I can drive it from the front of the boat (stick-steering). Is this possible? I'm in the boat by myself most of the time and this would make it alot easier to handle. Any response and advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, dlg."

"Thanks for the response. What about the tiller and lower part of the cowling? Do they need to be removed? I've looked at some of the "universal" kits online and I don't see any information on how to do the conversion. Can you steer me toward something like that? How would the cables get through to the hookups, is there a different lower part availible that would accomodate that? Thanks again, dlg"
