The easiest one is if Your generator has a 'W' conection at the back. Then You may use any tach that reads AC pulses, normally 12.
Secondly and more expemcive You may have to install the 'old time system' with a sensor at the camshaft gear (should be a plug somewhere in that area) and a special tach that is calibrated for that engine/number of theeth on the gear!"
