how hard would it be to get a

how hard would it be to get a 4.3 into the 300hp range? I haven't really been able to find many performance parts for these engines.

"you'd want a 4bbl vortec manifold to start, then vortec heads, ported and polished with slightly larger valves, then step up the camshaft a bit, maybe some better flowing exhaust manifolds or even thru-hull exhaust with some wet headers, that should put you at or over 300hp, can also think about a supercharger but then you'd have to drop the compression by changing the pistons, then you'd need to think about beefier rods, a better crank and stonger main bearing caps as by then you'd be pushing 400hp.

Best to just drop in a nice V8, should bolt right up, then you'll need to swap your drive as the gear ratio wont be right. the 4.3 uses a 1.8:1 Ratio and most V8's are 1.47-1.5:1.

It'll Break before you get to 300hp...
