just bought boat when i shift

just bought boat when i shift into fwd or rev the gears gind for a sec but once in gear it is fine is there any adjustment? thanks for any info

here is a thought...shift...swiftly....not slowly,into gear...sharply.."
 
Check your idle it may need ad

Check your idle it may need adjustment its probaly set too high ..In gear on the lake it should be no more that 700....
