"Time again for an oil change.
And every time I'm not sure what to use. Well I know what Honda recommends, but I'm hard headed and feel very uneasy putting just automotive oil in my babies (BF45A, BF8A)
So what do you guys use??
What do the gurus recommend??"

"Well I'm no Honda guru by a long margin, but for my BF 225 the manual says SAE 10W-30 HD. My dealer, who I trust, says SAE 10W-30 HD, so I use SAE 10W-30 HD. Remember, the basic block, pistons, crank, bearings, etc. - all those things the oil lubricates - are the same as a Honda automotive engine. My BF 225 is a variant of the J35, which is considered one of the best engines Honda has ever made. Basically, it's an Acura engine that's been around since about 1996 plus or minus. Changing the oil every 100 hours is the equivalent of changing the oil on an automobile engine at 4,000 miles, plus or minus, depending on how hard you run the engine. Normally, I try to keep the max RPM's at no more than 5,000, although WOT is 6,000 for my set up."
