"I have a 2004 Honda 150 (bought new in 05)with 133 hours on it. I spoke with the dealership about the water pump maintenance, asked should I replace it or not? There answer was it should be fine till 200 hours, because I rinse very well after each use and also trailer the boat. The owners manual says after 200 hours or two years.

Your thoughts?

Just curious on how much I should expect to pay if done by a dealer.

Thanks, Mike"

"A good 10 minute (minimum) fresh water flush is the best thing you can do to keep the cooling system at peak performance. It should be inspected every 200 hours and I always replace the impeller at inspection time, even though it's seldom necessary. "Like you I flush my motor at the end of each day, with fresh water, and trailer the boat.

I replace the water pump two years, regardless of the number of hours.

The cost estimate this year is $250 (on Cape Cod)."

"I'm leaning towards replacing the water pump. I have heard from a few people already and the majority says to change it out. $250.00 does not sound that bad! I'm going to look into some prices next.

Any other info is much appreciated.

Thanks, Mike"
