I have on my mercruiser 470 th

I have on my mercruiser 470 the alternator conversion kit.. and i was wonder since no manual i have shows this. cause they still use the old system in the book.. where do i connect the wires.. or wire.. i have been struggling with this wiring system on this boat.. I have all new wires and such and I follow the manual.. but still can not get this motor to run.. if i connected it my way i can turn it over but then it burns out the starter.. if i do what the manual says i dont even get a click. i need some help before i buy a canoe..

Look here! ebasicpower.com they have the wiring diagram for this. I used it and it works great.With the problem you are having I don't think it's a simple alternator wiring problem though.
