"Hi guy's, i have a 18HP seahorse Johnson, First question is will the recoil fit a 1956 15HP Johnson ? And I cannot seem to find the model # year etc, Any help will be greatly apreciated, Thank's.. Bob"

"Motor #'s are on nickel sized, round silver plugs on the engine block...click on "engine parts" at the top of the Marine engine page and you will be directed to the motor number identification page on this site...I think the recoil on the 18 has a much wider stance but am not positive"

The number on the block/plug is 1772035 i'm not sure if it's been replaced or what, Does that number make since? I went on ebay and found what appeared to be an exact match visually, His is a FD-12 1958 18HP (according to him) I did find a part number on the underside of the recoil assy, #277436 Thank's again... Bob"
