"Hi Guys,
I've got an old '71 60hp Johnson (60ESL71E, ser no: C1127) that was starting great until the weekend. Basically I had it going (electric start), switched her off, then a couple of minutes later went to start it and heard a small "pop" from the motor followed by a click whenever I turn the key. I've yet to test the starter motor as there's power going to it, but I'm thinking it may be the solanoid that's the problem. It still starts and runs fine using the pull start. Any help would be greatly appreciated."

"No worries, after having a good look at it, I found the click was coming from the solanoid proving there was no issue there. I bypassed that to test the starter motor...and she was poked, I've since changed that and it's all go again."
