"Well another NEWBY question.

"Well another NEWBY question. I'm hoping to save some bucks. I have a 1993 J250 (J250TZETS) V8 which (a *!* tree limb)lost it lower unit. My friend has a (E175FSLECS)V6 which I could get a good price. I really need the 20" lower unit. So here is the question, Is it better place Midsection and LU on the Johnson or the powerhead on Rude.
Any help is kindly appreciated

"I'm not so sure the powerheads, mids, or lowers are interchangable on those two motors. You might be putting the whole 'Rude on. Even then, the 93 has the "big red plug" the 98 will have the Deutch connectors to connect to the boat wiring.

Even if the 175 gearcase fits, will it withstand the torque of the V8? I know OMC had to reinforce the V6 Gearcase in 2001. It seems the new 3.3L powerhead had a little too much kick for the standard gearcase."
