"I'm buying a boat that will have 1999 150 hp 2 strokes. One of the boats I looked at had salt collected or crystalized on the outside of all the gaskets I could see like the heads, intake, etc. Is this normal?
What things should I look for on lightly used engines? Does a 10 year old engine with 200 hours have specific things that maybe I should be looking for?"

I JUST DID THE SAME THING I JUST GOT A 87 WINNER BASS BOAT WITH A 150PH YAMAHA I CHANGED THE G OIL THE MOTOR OIL THE SPARK PLUGS SPAY CLEAND THE CABS FULE FILLTER CHANGED OUT WATER PUMP KIT THAT IS ALL I AM GOING TO DO FOR NOW ALL THE WORK I DID MY SELF AND IT WAS MY FIRST TIME.IT WAS OK. THIS IS THE BOAT
 
If the outboards were on a bra

If the outboards were on a bracket then some salt build up is pretty typical. Compression would be a main concern of mine. You did not state if the motors were carb or injected which would be helpful. Either way there is always going to be minor issues.
