I am thinking about repowering

I am thinking about repowering my 1982 Chris Craft 251 Catalina express and I have an opportunity to pick up a rebuilt Chrysler Marine Power LM318. Does anyone know anything about these engines and would it work in my boat? Thanks!

"Yes, right now, I've got a 305K (225hp)RH drive and is original equipment. It's getting pretty tired and because of where the starter moter is located on the bell housing, it seems like every other year I'm pulling the starter to have it rebuilt because the bendix and armature rust up."

Do NOT go with the 3i8 for tHe stuff you'll need to change will cost a fortune. Buy a 350 Chevy long and bolt all your stuff on. I'll wake that boat up!
