"I also need fuel mix info. Have a pre-1970 (probably late 60's) Johnson 75 hp. Can anyone advise the fuel mix for that one? Thanks, John Sutton"

John If it was made after or during 1964 it will use 50:1 mix. Get the model number and we can tell you the year and be sure of it. You don't want to guess at this.

Thanks for posting all of the

Thanks for posting all of the serial numbers Willard. I was looking for the year of an 18hp Evinrude outboard recently purchased from a friend. He thought it was the last two numbers of the SN (In my case "82". You've set me straight - SN 18102S-E11182=1971? Is this also 50:1? Can you buy a starter for it? Anyone.

yes you can buy a starter for

yes you can buy a starter for it it just will be a little tricky to find and the fuel mix is 50:1 but u can alway run it a little thicker. ill check my listing for a starter for you then tell u the price and were to get it

"Thanks Christian, I guessed i

"Thanks Christian, I guessed it was 50:1, now I'm sure. I am putting it on a 22' aluminum FishRite jetboat with a 2 1/2' swim platform protruding from the back. The boat is an inboard and climbing out to start it in the winter won't be enjoyable, I'm in Montana. I really want to start it from the console. On another topic, My Grandfather, who was the inspiration for my fishing passion, left me a 7.5hp Firestone engine with a matching fuel can with the old Firestone logo. He passed away in 1994 and the motor hasn't been started since 1989. I am teaching a group of Boy Scouts their motor boating merit badge and would like to use this motor on a 12' aluminum boat. The sn is 13351231, the code# is 133-3-1335 and the stock# is 10-A-103. Can you tell me if it also is a 50:1 and give me any recommendations for starting it for the first time in almost 2 decades. Thanks in advance"

"hi again, np on the info the

"hi again, np on the info the antique you are trying to start is a nice oldy and the fuel mixture is the same 50:1. u can run it thicker if you want. for the first time for starting it you should check the carb and make sure there is no old stale fuel in it. make sure there is fuel getting to it. then check your spark plugs and make sure there clean and not terribly carbonized. if u want a little bit of and easier start sqirt a l little bit of eather in it. secondly make sure theres a spark, aint gunna work if theres no spark. then make sure theres gear oil in the lower unit. if its really black and old i suggest u change it and if its milky looking then you gotta a lil bit of a problem, but lets hope it's just fine. then take an entire look over the motor for broken parts or any other weird looking thins and make sure every works like it should. im srry to hear about your grandfather. im only 15 years old and live in ontario canada. also about the electric start iun still looking. any thing i missed just let me knowe and ill be happy to answer any other questions you have
