"hi, I own a 32 luhrs w/twin 1987 chrysler 318s. I asked a boat mechanic I know about what oil and filter to use. He recommended mercruiser 25/40 weight oil and mercruiser oil filter #35-802885q.He's not a mercury dealer. I wanted another opinion, He mentioned that the filter comes short and long also. "I use NAPA filters (made by Wix--good stuff). Use the thinnest oil that maintains hot, cruiing rpm, oil pressure and you'll be fine (along with the gears on your oil pumps). On mine, 10W30 gets it done.

I've thought about that Me

I've thought about that Mercury oil myself. I have no idea why it would have to be so heavy at start up but as far as their other products go they make THE best 2-cycle oil around. I would find out about it's zinc content though.
