I replaced the fuel line and p

I replaced the fuel line and priming bulb after it was stolen on my 2005 40 horse 4 stroke Yamaha outboard. I used regular automotive fuel line and now the engine seems to run a little rough. When I connected it to the top of the fuel tank the hose did split a little bit due to a tight fit. Could I be drawing air in that would cause the engine to run rough? There is no fuel leaking.

The split is tiny and does not

The split is tiny and does not appear to be thru wall but I suppose it could be. As I said there is no fuel leaking and there is no smell of vapors. I appreciate your response but it doesn't really answer my question.
