I recently got a 1989 40 hp mariner magnum motor and purchased new water pump lower base and upper as well impeller. I removed all old parts and the new lower base would not fit into loer unit housing it was about 1/16 larger than the one i took out and damaged in process except for the part that fit into the housing. The dealer says it might have had a different lower unit put on but was unwilling to help. I am stuck at this point any help or suggestions is appreciated. thxs
