"I have serviced everything on the boat except the swivel bearing.
I am unable to remove the red plastic plug.
The slotted portion as well as the hex portion of the plug is too brittle to respond to my efforts. I tried vicegrips as well. I have thought about drilling it out,but do not know what I will cause if some of the plastic debris gets into the cavity.
Any sugestions? Please?
Also,I cannot find an original replacement plug here in Central Oregon.
Any sugestions for a suitable substitute?
Thanks
Ted"

"Thanks for the tip David,
How did you end up removing your plug? Yes it is the same red plug.
I have thought about drilling it out, but am concerned about some of the plastic plug falling into the cavaity.
I was unsucsessful this AM in getting on to the site you gave me, but will keep trying."

"that cavity is not sealed...

"that cavity is not sealed... it's the exhaust housing- full of exhaust gases, soot, carbon, sand, zebra mussels and everything else that lives in the water....a few bits of plastic won't hurt."

"Hy Stat
Thank you very much, you put my mind at ease.
I will get that ole plug out with great exzuberance, but care for the housing. I have a Seloc manual but am new to some of the tech stuff and path of flows and am left in the dark with some of the diagrams etc, since I have never taken an outdrive apart.
Thanks again
Ted"
